What happens at the next appointment depends on the condition of the builder layer. If the structure is sound, the technician may rebalance or refill it and change the colour. If there is lifting, cracking, excessive length or incompatible old product, more removal may be needed.
BIAB and gel polish do different jobs
BIAB is used to create structure and reinforce the natural nail. Gel polish mainly provides colour and finish. Putting colour over a builder layer combines those roles rather than turning the colour itself into the strengthening layer.
This is why a salon may list a plain BIAB overlay at one price and BIAB plus gel colour at another.
Can you change colour without removing all the BIAB?
